മണിക്കൂറുകളോളം വിഴിഞ്ഞത്ത് എന്തു നടക്കുന്നുവെന്ന വിവരംപോലും പുറംലോകത്ത് എത്തിയിരുന്നില്ല. ഊഹാപോഹങ്ങൾ മാത്രമാണ് പ്രചരിച്ചത്. മാധ്യമ പ്രവർത്തകരെപ്പോലും വിഴിഞ്ഞത്തേയ്ക്ക് കടത്തിവിടാതെ സമരക്കാർ തടഞ്ഞു. ആദ്യം സംഭവത്തിന്റെ ദൃശ്യങ്ങൾ പകർത്തിയ മാധ്യമപ്രവർത്തകനെ ആക്രമിച്ചു. മുറിവേറ്റ ഇയാളെ ഇന്നല രാത്രി ഏറേ വൈകിയാണു മെഡിക്കൽ കോളേജ് ആശുപത്രിയിൽ പ്രവേശിപ്പിക്കാനായതു.
കൈയിൽകിട്ടിയ കമ്പും കല്ലും വടികളുമായി പ്രതിഷേധക്കാർ പോലീസ് സ്റ്റേഷനുള്ളിലേക്ക് അക്രമമഴിച്ചുവിടുകയായിരുന്നു. സ്റ്റേഷൻ വളപ്പ് സമരക്കാർ കൈയടക്കിയതോടെ പോലീസുകാർ ബന്ദിയായി. കൂടുതൽ ആളുകൾ എത്തിയതോടെ പോലീസുകാർക്ക് നേരേ ആക്രമണവും, മർദ്ദനവും തുടങ്ങി.പോലീസ് വാഹനങ്ങൾ ആക്രമിച്ച സമരക്കാർ കണ്ണിൽ കണ്ട വസ്തുക്കളൊക്കെ അടിച്ചുതകർത്തു. പരിക്കേറ്റ പോലീസുകാർക്കുപോലും സ്റ്റേഷന് പുറത്തേയ്ക്ക് പോകാനായില്ല. ഈ സമയം വിഴിഞ്ഞം പ്രദേശം മുഴുവനും സമരക്കാർ കൈയടക്കി. മുഖം നോക്കാതെയുള്ള ശക്തമായ പോലീസ് നടപടിയെതുടർന്ന് സമരക്കാർ അകലേക്ക് നീങ്ങിപ്പോയി. തെക്കൻ ജില്ലയിലെ സകല പോലീസ് സേനയേയും, ഉന്നത ഉദ്യോഗസ്ഥരേയും വിഴിഞ്ഞത്തു വരുത്തി. ഇപ്പോൾ രാവിലെ എട്ടു മണിയായ ഈ സമയം വിഴിഞ്ഞം സമാധാന അന്തരീക്ഷത്തിലാണു. ചർച്ചകൾക്കു എല്ലാവരും തയ്യാറായിട്ടുണ്ടു. ഇന്നലെ അറസ്റ്റിലായ വരെ സ്റ്റേഷൻ ജാമ്യത്തിൽ വിട്ടു..
